Overview  

Join our instructor, Jason Perry to learn the basics of Ruby and our Campus Director, Toni Aliberti to learn more about The Iron Yard

This course assumes no previous knowledge of Ruby or any other programming language.

Outcomes

The first half of the course will be a short lecture on the basics of programming and Ruby, followed by a hands-on workshop where we'll do some actual coding together.

Requirements

• A laptop with a working Ruby (v2.x) installation. Any recent Mac has this out of the box. For windows, checkout: http://rubyinstaller.org/. Linux users can use their distro's package manager.

• Your favorite text editor (e.g. Sublime Text, Vim or Atom, not a word processor like Word)

• What is Ruby? 

• Real word use cases

• Basic Ruby syntax

• Object Oriented Programming

• Creating a simple application or game
